Organization for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa
( OTACCWA )
Is a multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral group of professionals, companies and organizations in Nigeria and ECOWAS countries with the primary mission to organize the different industry sectors participating in cold chain supply of perishable commodities and products, medicines and vaccines for storage, and transportation or distribution which represents their individual and collective interests in policy making, standards setting and industry development.
We support reducing carbon emissions and increasing collaboration in the Cold Chain industry making it sustainable. We encourage investing in innovation, research, development and education.
We recommend appropriate policy framework relating to development of the Cold Chain industry.
Facilitating and fostering the development of multi-modal transportation facilities for all perishable commodities and other products, pharmaceuticals and food requiring controlled temperature handling.
We establish formal linkages with the government delineating the role of the private business sector in the food and nutrition security with related development programmes.
We develop curriculum and provide study modules for cold chain in West Africa. We develop and encourage cold chain in medical and pharmaceutical supplies. We also develop and encourage cold chain in food, cosmetics and allied industries supplies.
Our activities include trainings and capacity building from both local and international professionals, access to loans and grants to support members, as well as a business2businness network - offering premium aggregation of capable technicians, farmers, cold room operators, logistics, government agencies etc. who are also members of OTACCWA ready to do business with you.
We also have relationships with several multinational NGOs and foreign donors such as The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).We play our part in negotiations to influence government policies to help our members in terms of low interest rate loans, cold chain infrastructures, legal protection, government policy trust and other areas that are relevant to OTACCWA and the development of cold chain in Nigeria.
In addition, we host an annual West Africa Cold Chain Summit and Exhibition (WACCSE), a convergence of both local and global stakeholders in the cold chain industry for the purpose of providing more opportunities for the players in the sector.
