About the Event

The 4th West Africa Cold Chain Summit & Exhibition 2022 (WACCSE 2022) organised by OTACCWA, will be holding from 22nd – 24th March 2022, at the Landmark Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The theme for this year is “Implementing Cold Chain in Transforming Africa’s Supply Network”.

Cold chain is an integral backbone of developed economies and the catalyst that keeps those economies growing. Africa is in the nascent stages of cold chain development. In sub-Saharan Africa, South Africa have been able to integrate cold chain into their economy and this has helped their economy grow thereby improving the standard of living of their populace.

Over the years, Post-Harvest Loss (PHL) has constituted a significant problem and challenge across sub-Saharan Africa, with recent studies pegging rates as high as 60%, especially in perishable nutritious foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables. This accounts for low incomes for farmers and the high price variations in the supply of these nutritious foods. The importance of cold chain is not only critical to the food value chains for PHL reduction, but also healthcare delivery as well. The lack of cold chain impacts on both nutritious food supply and healthcare delivery systems, especially in the storage, transportation, and the distribution of these essential food commodities for improving our overall nutritious status and pharmaceutical products such as vaccines for primary healthcare delivery efforts.

It will showcase the latest technologies on the global cold chain market, and machinery necessary for the cold chain and allied industries. This event will bring together professionals from these sectors and offer a platform to mainstream actions for the advancement of this industry, to connect and interact with people from all walks of life. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase products and services, as well as reach out to the broader national, regional and international communities.

WACCSE 2022 is the 4th edition of the annual meeting for professionals and specialists in the cold chain industry, in West Africa and beyond. WACCSE is a growing, developing and successful exhibition in West Africa, bringing together under one roof all professionals and stakeholders in the cold chain industry for business networking, face-to-face sales, marketing with all potential buyers and trade visitors from several countries.

WACCSE 2021 is expected to attract participation and exhibition by several domestic and international cold chain equipment manufacturers, fresh food producers, farmers, produce dealers, packaging manufacturers, processors, technology, printing and machinery suppliers from all over the world.

At this summit, we shall engage with government, primary producers, private sector, industry, market commodity and trade associations, research and academia, professional associations, development partners, agencies, and regulatory bodies to discuss ways to deploy cold chain technologies to address these identified challenges.
